Course Reserves

All Course Reserve Lists can be viewed by logging into the Libraries Course Reserves Database.

Books, articles, and other materials, either from the library collection or the instructor's personal copies, may be placed on reserve by faculty and teaching assistants so that these materials may be shared more easily by the students in their classes. In the Architecture & Landscape Architecture Library, the course reserve service is available for courses in architecture, landscape architecture, and other related courses.

We now have four ways to place materials on reserve at the Architecture & Landscape Architecture Library:

  • Open Reserves:

Books placed on Open Reserve are shelved in a seperate section out on the main floor in call number order where students may browse these books and select what they want to use. They do not need to charge them out to use them in the library. They can check them out for two hours or overnight if they want to take them out of the library.

  • Closed Reserves:

Books placed on Closed Reserve are kept behind the desk for your course. Students can not browse these shelves but they can check them out for two hours or overnight. If you place your own personal copies of books in the library for your students to use, they must be placed on Closed Reserve.

  • Electronic Reserves:

You may put some types of readings on reserve as electronic texts. Course Reserve Services in Pattee handles these requests. For more information, please go to the Course Reserve Services page.

  • MTSS Videos:

Faculty can place MTSS Videos on Course Reserve for 28 days at the Architecture & Landscape Architecture Library. Please contact Darla Baker with your request.

  • Photocopy Bins:

You are always welcome to place articles for your students to photocopy. These will be placed in wall-mounted racks next to the photocopier room in the library. This is an informal arrangement. Do this whenever you please. The photocopies are not listed on any reserve list.

NOTE: You may even designate some books for Open Reserves and some for Closed Reserves if you wish. You may also have some readings in Electronic Reserves. All of these titles will be listed on the reserve reading list for your course both online and in a notebook in the Architecture and Landscape Architecture Library.

When you send reserve reading requests to the library, please indicate whether you prefer that books be placed on Open or Closed Reserves.

Please contact Darla Baker (865-5074) with any questions or new reading lists.
