Independent Libraries in Rome

Even if you still can't conjugate "essere," you should still try to visit at least one of these Italian libraries as part of your semester in Rome. A few have staff members who speak English, if not, please refer to the Italian Phrases for Library Users guide that we have compiled for your use.

Below is a brief list of Independent Libraries in Rome that you should be able to access.

Santa Susanna is the "American Catholic Parish in Rome," run by the Paulist order. One of their many services to Rome's American community is a subscription-based, volunteer-run lending library, recently enlarged to over 20,000 volumes by a donation from the British School at Rome. For a membership fee of 30 euros (plus a refundable 20-euro deposit), individuals can borrow up to 5 books for up to 2 weeks. And in case you were wondering, this is the same S. Susanna with a Baroque facade by Carlo Maderno, designer of St. Peter's facade.
