Using The CAT

You can search the CAT by entering book titles or authors' names. Authors' names should be listed in the CAT according to standard Spanish usage.  You cannot enter accent marks.

Examples: Garcia Marquez, Gabriel or reino del mundo

To do a subject search, it is important to understand that literature is organized in the CAT by country, not language. The subject heading "Spanish literature" refers to literature from Spain. Examples of useful subject headings:

Numbers in the PN class for literature:

PN801-820: Romance literature

Numbers in the PQ class for literature:

PQ6001 - PQ8929: Spanish Literature (Spain)
PQ7081 - PQ8560: Spanish Literature of Spanish America
PQ7100 - PQ7300: Mexico
PQ7471 - PQ7539: Central America (alphabetical by country)
PQ7551 - PQ8549: South America (alphabetical by country)
