Library Resources for Classes in Spanish Translation
This guide will show you how to find articles from newspapers and magazines to use in your Spanish translation classes. It will also lead you to useful dictionaries and other reference tools for translators.
Sources for articles for translation: Newspaper articles
From the Libraries' home page www.libraries.psu.edu
- Click on E-Resource List .
- Highlight Academic Universe/Lexis Nexis and click Go There.
- In the Select a News Category box, choose Non-English News.
- In the Select News Source box, choose Spanish language.
- Search by keyword in Spanish.
Or
Go to the News and Microforms Library page.
- On the right side of the page, click on NewsBank for access to recent issues of Madrid's El País.
- At the bottom of the page, click on newspapers.
- click on Newspapers from other countries/web site locators
Or
Go to LANIC, the Latin American Network Information Center and click on Media and communication, then click on newspapers.
Sources for articles for translation: Magazine articles
- Print magazines: The News and Microforms Library, Ground floor, West Pattee, has the latest issues of Cambio 16 , a newsmagazine from Spain. Back issues are also available in the stacks.
- Go to LANIC, click on Media and communication, then click on magazines. This page contains links to many online Spanish-language magazines from many different countries.
Reference resources for translators
Bilingual dictionaries (Spanish-English, English-Spanish) can be found in the reference collection, 2 nd floor Pattee stacks, starting at call number PC4629. In addition, you can find more specialized dictionaries in the same area. Here are some examples:

Encyclopedia articles can provide you with appropriate vocabulary for specialized topics. A Spanish-language encyclopedia can be found in the Arts and Humanities Ready Reference collection. You can find a specialized encyclopedia for music online. From the Libraries' home page www.libraries.psu.edu
