Probably the most well known investment Web site, along with
Yahoo! Finance. The site now has the banner "MoneyCentral Investor is
now all free!" This mega site offers free real-time quotes (50 per day);
delayed quotes; a portfolio manager; a 401(k) planner; company and mutual
fund reports; investment finder; investments matcher; insider trading information;
a mutual funds section; and market reports. This site also serves as
an online broker. Registration is required for some features.
Money Advisor
Money Advisor is a "financial help directory." Included are financial
calculators for investments, retirements, and loans and educational resources
on such topics as mortgages and legal issues.
Money Magazine
The Web site for Money magazine offers select recent articles;
a delayed quote area; a feature called money.com which is an investment report
from the editors of Money; portfolios; a trading game; and investment education
resources.
Moneyline.com
Moneyline bills itself as "the Internet's leading aggregator
of financial market data, news, commentary and e-commerce applications. The
Company provides financial professionals a real-time, interactive window to
the world's financial markets. Its core strength is the global capital markets,
which include money markets, fixed income, foreign exchange and derivatives."
MoneySearch
MoneySearch offers its selection of Web links under various investment
categories in a "Reviewed Sites" section. The value is that the sites
are reviewed and not merely listed. There are also industry charts, investment
articles from various newspapers and magazines, and financial calculators.
Moody's Investor Service
Moody's Web site contains information about the business and
ratings giant as well as some bond ratings.
Morgan Stanley Dean Witter
Investments brokerage company.
Morningstar
Morningstar is the undisputed king of mutual funds. Its
Web site contains fund selection tools; real-time fund analyses; news items;
market reports; a "university" section (educational reports); and a stock/fund
quote service.
Motley Fool
The Motley Fool is an Internet site for the individual investor.
The "Fool" offers a forum for individuals to interact and share information
and ideas; investment reports; delayed quotes and market data; portfolios;
and a lot of educational resources. Registration is required for some
features.
Multex Investor Network
Multex is a relatively new but much publicized Internet investment information
provider. The home page has two links - one each for individual or institutional
investors. The "individual" section requires registration and provides
free quotes and brokerage reports and a discussion forum. Multex
also offers a variety of fee-based services for the institutional investor.
Mutual Fund Investor's Center
The Mutual Fund Education Alliance offers this site for the individual mutual
fund investor. The "FundCenter" provides information and data on no-load
mutual funds and the "FundFinder" allows users to find information on individual
mutual funds. There are also news stories and educational, retirement
planning, and investment advisory resources.
Mutual Funds Central
Mutual Funds Central provides a list of the top ten "most-invested-in" mutual
funds and the top no-load funds. It also provides links to mutual fund
resources such as ratings, fund research, fund performance, fund companies,
and no-load funds.
Mutual Funds Online
The Web site for Mutual Funds magazine offers two tiers of service, free registration
and "charter membership." The free portion includes articles from
the magazine, fund advisory information, fund calculators, discussion forums,
and a weekly email newsletter.
NASDAQ
The Web site for the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated
Quotation System (NASDAQ) and the American Stock Exchange (AMEX) reflects
their merger. Visitors can enter up to ten stock quotes from AMEX, NASDAQ,
or NYSE. Included are sections for market news; equity and index options;
earnings surprises; a portfolio section; and links to resources for individual
investors.
NVST.com
NVST.com describes itself as the "only Internet portal serving the business-to-business
needs of the private equity, merger and acquisition, and venture capital industries."
The site allows free searching of its databases of "over 50,000 professional
and corporate profiles."
National Association of Investors
Corporation
NAIC is an educational site for individuals and groups of investors.
The site offers a wide selection of investment advisory publications and research
reports. Some information is free, but the full range of services is
available to members. Cost is currently $39 for individuals and $40
for groups.
National Association of Securities Dealers
NASD is the parent company of the NASDAQ-AMEX exchange. The site contains
free market data (mostly monthly); market sector profiles; market quality
statistics; regulatory data; a market simulation game; news releases and a
glossary.
National Futures Association
The NFA is the self-regulatory agency for the futures industry. All
futures traders are required to become members. The site offers a list of
futures related links on the Internet.
Netstock Direct
This site is aimed at individuals who want to buy stock directly from companies
without an intermediary. Users can enter in a ticker symbol or
name to find out whether the company offers a plan. Information from
the 1,600+ companies in Netstock Direct's database includes minimum initial
contribution, debit option, and a copy of the direct investing guide.
The site also has links for the most popular plans and new plans and has a
new mutual fund component. Netstock Direct also serves as an online
broker.
New York Stock Exchange
The NYSE site contains a list of the over 3,000 companies on the exchange,
searchable either alphabetically, through a search engine, by clicking on
a geographic region of the world, or by industry type. There is also
a "Market Summary," "Fact Book," index quotes, and press releases. The
"Data Library" (under Market Information) contains historical statistics.
No Load Stocks Info
This site is for information on purchasing stock or joining a dividend reinvestment
plan directly with a company. The owner of this site maintains a list
of companies and a discussion list.
North American Securities Administrators Association
This association is devoted to protecting investors. The site is primarily
educational.
Oanda Currency Converter
This site provides an exchange rate calculator for the current day and for
any day since January 1, 1990. Users can also customize the display.
Online Investment Services
This is a list of discount stock and commodity brokers compiled by an individual
investor. The site maintains lists of the best brokers, information
on choosing a broker, links to broker sites, and a section on "problem brokers."
Online Investor
The Online Investor is a mega site offering quotes, news, market summaries,
investment strategies, up/downgrades, stock buybacks, stock splits, mergers/buyouts,
earnings calendar, and IPOs.

Options Industry Council
The Options Industry Council is an educational resource for the options industry.
The site allows users to request free videos and software, provides a list
of free seminars, and has press releases and a glossary.
OSU Virtual
Finance Library
Ohio State University's Department of Finance has constructed a useful "virtual
library" of finance and investment Web resources. The frame on the left
side provides links under various subjects, including "Exchanges," "Current
Quotes," "Market News," and "For Investors." There is also an interactive "Financial Data Finder" where users can submit queries and are directed to
appropriate resources.
PC Quote
PC Quote is a mega site offering delayed quotes and charts, options, futures,
personal finance information, market indices, business news, lists of online
brokers, company information and filings, and IPOs.
PC Trader
Company offering trading software, products, and information.
PR Newswire
The PR Newswire site has two years of its news wire stories searchable by
company name (along with links to SEC filings). Today's headlines
are also prominently displayed. There is a multimedia section with video
new stories and conference calls; market focus stories by industry name; and
an individual investment section with delayed quotes, annual reports, and
company news.
Philadelphia Stock Exchange
The Philadelphia Stock Exchange, the first securities exchange in the U.S.,
has information on its 2,600+ listings. Users can find delayed quotes,
options, a market newsletter and market news stories, and index quotes.
There is also an educational section with online guides and a glossary.
Pit Master
The logo at Pit Master is "futures traders helping futures traders."
The site contains a number of investment advisory resources; futures trading
tips and tricks; an education center; and "TradeTudor" software for charts
and data.
PitNews
This weekly online news source contains current news and
information; a weekly fundamentals report; market tips;
sector reports; charts; and strategies.
Prophet
Site offering market data and news, company quotes and information, and market
leaders, losers, and most actives.
Public Register's Annual Report
Service
Free online or hard-copy annual report. Users click on first letter(s)
of the company name. The site currently provides reports for over 2,200
companies.

Quicken offers a lot of free personal investment services at this site.
Users can find (mostly under the "Investments" link) delayed quotes and charts,
analysts recommendations, a stock screener, company reports, a portfolio section,
market indices, news stories, mutual funds, retirement information, bonds,
and online forums. The site also provides information on its commercial
products.
Quote.com
Quote.com is a mega site that offers both free and fee-based services.
Free information includes delayed quotes, portfolios, stock reports, charts,
news, SEC filings, mutual funds center, IPOs, free email alerts, market indices
and an educational center.
Quoteline
Quoteline is a mega site geared toward international companies and information.
Users can find delayed quotes, company information, a portfolio service, charts,
and business news. There are also some fee-based services such as real-time
quotes and email quotes.
QuoteWatch
QuoteWatch offers free delayed quotes and charts, options information, market
news and indices, a futures section, and some fee-based services.
Raging Bull
Raging Bull emphasizes its message boards for company information. Users
can search by ticker symbol to access boards or can browse a listing of the
most active. The site also contains quotes (real-time with registration),
news, and portfolios.
Real Time Quotes
Free service, but registration is required. Also offers delayed quotes
without registration.
Report Gallery
The Report Gallery compiles Web versions of annual reports, most often from
the company's home page. Users select by first letter of the company
name, or by scrolling down an alphabetical list. In addition to the
annual report, most also have a link to the company's home page. There
are over 1,000 companies in the Report Gallery File, some in PDF format.
An "International" gallery provides access to annual reports of companies
in the U.K., South Africa, Japan and Korea.
SEDAR
SEDAR (System for Electronic Document Analysis and Retrieval) is the Canadian
equivalent to the SEC's EDGAR database. Users can search by company
name, industry, or by date of filing. There is also a section for mutual
funds.
Salomon Smith Barney Access
Salomon Smith Barney offers client-based and guest services. Guests
must register, but are given access to news articles, financial calculators,
and a "personalized watch list of securities." The site provides free
delayed quotes, market news, upgrades/downgrades, market reports, and educational
information.
Savings Bond Wizard
Savings Bond Wizard is a downloadable Windows program that allows users to
inventory and determine the redemption value of their savings bonds.

Charles Schwab
The investment advisory company does offer free information at its site, including
delayed quotes and charts, equity reports, industry information, mutual fund

Securities and Exchange Commission
The SEC is the official repository for filings from publicly traded corporations
(or those wishing to publicly trade). See "EDGAR" for a description
of the EDGAR database. The site also maintains information regarding
SEC rulemaking, the SEC Digest and public statements, and areas for investor
complaints and small business information.
Securities Industry Association
The SIA's membership includes securities brokers, investment banks, mutual
fund companies, and other securities traders. The association issues
guidelines, policy statements and provides educational resources for the securities
industry.
Silicon Investor
This site (formerly known as TechStocks) is aimed at the technology sector.
Users can enter in ticker symbols or company names to find quotes or news.
Results for quotes also provide links to financials, SEC filings, and EPS
estimates. There are also portfolios, market news stories, a bond market
section, upgrades/downgrades, and IPOs. Free registration is required
for some features.
Smart Money
Smart Money magazine offers this companion Web site that offers a lot of information
including stock quotes and charts, an hourly stock market update, today's
news stories and a searchable database of stories by sector, a portfolio section,
investment advise from magazine articles, mutual funds, bonds, and a discussion
forum.
Social Investment Forum
SIF is "a national nonprofit membership organization promoting the concept,
practice and growth of socially responsible investing." Included at
the site are socially responsible research reports, investment advice, mutual
fund information, news, and educational resources.
Standard & Poor's
Home page of the financial information and ratings company. The site
outlines their products in both areas.
Standard & Poor's Personal Wealth
S&P's Personal Wealth offers both free and "premium" services. Free
information includes delayed quotes, up to 50 real-time quotes per day with
registration, portfolios, charts, company information, SEC filings, industry
information, news, and market indices.

StockGuide is a site aimed at OTC stocks. Users can search by ticker

Thomson Real Time Quotes
Thomson provides up to 100 free real-time quotes per day with registration.

Timely.com
Timely.com is a Web site for securities and industry charts, offering several
types of free charting services. Users can enter a ticker symbol to
get charts based on time period. There are also several options for
users to construct charts according to their specifications. Links on
the main page provide the present day's charts for a variety of indices.
Tokyo Stock Exchange
The Tokyo Stock Exchange page contains a list of the companies traded and
real-time and historical index charts (most data available from 1968).

TradingCharts.com offers over 30,000 free stock market and commodity futures
quotes and price charts. Users select either stocks or options, the type of
chart they would like displayed, and the time period. Intra-day charts
are also available.

TradingDay.com offers a full-range of Web based investment information.
Users can enter up to ten ticker symbol and are given links to company's quotes,
historical daily quotes (one-year maximum), real-time quotes (registration
required), earnings, financial statements, news, analysts recommendations,
message boards, insider trading information, and SEC filings. There
are also sections for mutual funds, IPOs, and the securities markets.

Vanguard also uses this site as its online brokerage. Vanguard's

Web Sites for Discerning Finance Students
John M. Wachowicz, Jr. is co-author of Fundamentals of
Financial Management, 10th edition, 1998, Prentice-Hall. He
has created this Web site to correspond with the chapters
in his book. Each section contains an alphabetical
listing of links.
Wall Street Directory
This Web based directory contains over 50,000 listings for those interested
in finance and investing. Listings include investment firms, educational
resources, brokers, etc. Listings can be added by filling out an online form.
Users can browse alphabetically, search by keyword, or search by category.

This site offers a huge arrangement of Web links under categories along the
top of the page. Broad categories include U.S. Domestic Links; Global

WallStreeter.com sells historical data, but also provides free information
on American Depository Receipts, links to global exchanges and world market
indices.

World Wide Quote
Though primarily an online broker, World Wide Quote has clearly marked "Free

Worldlyinvestor.com is a mega site providing international
investing information for the individual investor. The
site provides international news stories, rankings of
stocks and ADRs, and lists ADRs by country and industry.
Users can also find quotes, build portfolios, find market
indices, visit the mutual fund center, and have free newsletters
emailed.
Yahoo! Finance
Yahoo! Finance is one of the best-known and heavily used investment portals.
Users can find a huge amount of information including delayed quotes, company
news, free historical quotes, portfolios (with registration), U.S. and global
markets, currency converter, stock screening, broker reports, discussion forums,
and links to advisory publications. Stock quote and portfolio displays
are easily customized.
Yahoo! Finance Company and Fund Index
Part of Yahoo! Finance, users can get company news, profiles, quotes and other
information by entering a company symbol or searching by company name.
