Food Manufacturing Industry
NAICS Code 311 & 3121 Scope of this guide:

Resources listed in this guide provide information and data about the food and non-alcoholic beverage manufacturing industry. Companies operating in this industry transform livestock and agricultural products into products for intermediate and final consumption. They include companies that:

• mill flour and other grains • manufacture dairy products and dairy substitutes
• produce starch, vegetable oils and fats • process meat, poultry and seafood products
• manufacture breakfast cereals • manufacture bakery, pasta and tortilla products
• refine sugar and cacao beans • manufacture snacks, coffee and tea
• manufacture confectioneries • manufacture soft drinks, bottled water and ice
• process fruits and vegetables into frozen, canned and other products, including juices • produce flavoring syrups, concentrates, extracts and seasonings

Although NAICS 3121 includes alcoholic beverage manufacturing, companies engaged in that line of business are covered in the Alcoholic Beverage and Tobacco Product Manufacturing Industry Guide.
