The focus of th MIS program is on managing business information systems that support core business processes. This major develops the students' knowledge of specific managment issues as well as the core elements of business.
Management Information Systems (MIS) differs from Management Science & Information Systems (MS&IS) and Computer Science. Concisely, MS&IS concentrates on quantitative business analysis skills. Computer Science is the study of computers, software engineering, and complex computer programming disciplines. Computer scientists conceive and construct the hardware and software used to build computers and compile application software. MIS majors may be considered the liaisons that complete the communication link between business and computer science. Management Information Systems graduates focus on the application of information technology within the organization.
