This collection consists of a single 2 page letter. Sir Francis Bernard Dicksee was a popular English painter of romantic genre pictures and society portraits in the in Pre-Raphaelite spirit. He began exhibiting at the Royal Academy in 1876 and became a member in 1891. He was knighted in 1925.

Scope and Content:
Dicksee writes to My dear Sir John, 25 Jan., year not given, agreeing to mention the case of Miss Bolton to the Council and indicating that he will call if he finds the recipient in town. The letter is handwritten with Dicksee's address at Greville House, 3 Greville Place. British History online WWW page (checked Aug. 11, 2005) indicates Dicksee lived at this address "between the wars," thus dating it to between 1918 and 1928, the year of Dicksee's death.
