Samuel Bayard, Pennsylvania Folk Music, 1965-1995: 66 interviews.
Ethnomusicologists Samuel Bayard and Robert Doyle interviewed
traditional musician in rural Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Specifically
focused on fiddle and fife music, this collection documents a disappearing
musical and oral tradition in the Allegheny mountains.
Italian-American History and Heritage interviews, 2001-2004: 62
interviews conducted by students in Italian language class reflecting
heritage, traditions, customs, and immigration of families with Italian
roots.
College of Agriculture, Cooperative Extension
Agent interviews, 1970-1986: 32 interviews detailing the work
of the agents, agricultural trends, and the counties within Pennsylvania
where their work takes place.
“A Few Good Women,” interviews, 1985-1995: 26 interviews conducted with prominent Washington D.C. female
politicians, lobbyists, activists and organizers. Initiated by former
Secretary of Commerce Barbara Franklin, the program was focused on documenting
the rise to influence of significant women in federal government positions.
Student Activism interviews, 1970-1974:
24 interviews with Penn State students and administrators who participated
in student activism on campus between 1966 and 1974.
Black Experience at Penn State, interviews, 1988: 23 interviews with former African-American students and faculty
about their experiences at Penn State. Interviews were conducted and
disseminated as part of three-part series in Penn State Alumni News.
State College Community interviews, 1975-2004: 22 interviews with prominent community leaders including
Mayors Arnold Addison and Bill Welch.
World War II Veterans Project, 2002-2004:
18 interviews conducted by Communications Studies students of World
War II veterans. Interviews and transcripts submitted to Library of
Congress World War II commemorative project.
History of Sports Medicine, interviews, 2001-2004: 14 Interviews with current and former faculty and physicians
involved in the development and growth of Penn State’s Sports
Medicine program.
College of Engineering, Nuclear Engineering
interviews, 1979-1986, 6 interviews with former Penn State
Engineering faculty members who went on to head the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory
Commission incouding Nunzio Palladino and Forrest Remick.
