Find Audio Information...

The following streaming-audio music sources are available from the "Music Audio" entry on the E-Resource List A-Z:

Classical Music Library
Classical Music Library streams classical and film music from a collection of over 30,000 tracks, with 2,000 new tracks added each month, supplemented by extensive reference materials such as program notes and composer biographies. The musical content is sourced from a variety of publishers. To listen from a PC with Internet Explorer, your computer needs Windows Media Player 7 or higher, and Macromedia Flash Player 6 or higher. To listen from an Apple Macintosh or from a PC with Netscape, your computer needs Macromedia Flash Player 6 or higher.

Naxos Music Library

Naxos Music Library streams music from the complete Naxos, Marco Polo, and Dacapo record catalogs of over 85,000 tracks: mostly classical music, with some jazz, world, and folk music. While listening, users can read notes on the works being played as well as biographical information on composers and artists. To listen from a PC, your computer needs Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player 9. To listen from an Apple Macintosh, your computer needs either OS 8.6 with MS IE 5.1 and Media Player 7.1, or OS X 10.2.8 with MS IE 5.2 and Media Player 9.
These music sources are available to all Penn State students, faculty, and staff, and can be accessed from any location via authentication with your Penn State Access Account ID and password.

If you like to bookmark web sites, please bookmark the "Music Audio" link (http://www.libraries.psu.edu/entry/music.html) rather than the specific Classical Music Library and Naxos Music Library web sites, to avoid authentication problems.

Both audio sources are accessible from public LIAS workstations that have been recently upgraded. They don’t work properly from public LIAS workstations that have not yet been upgraded. The upgrade process is well underway (our colleagues in DLT are a bit over halfway done with the project to upgrade the public LIAS workstations at all campus locations).
