Aerospace
whoAerospace Database is a product of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.  It covers all  aspects of the those two subjects plus relevant areas of the life sciences, math, physics, geosciences, computer sciences and social sciences.  Its scope is international, coverge is not limited to AIAA publications.  The database includes citations and abstracts to journal articles, conference papers, technical reports, and books.  Coverage begins in 1986. Aerospace is located on the E-Resource List on the Libraries homepage.

whatBooks - AIAA and other publishers are indexed.

Conferences - The wide range of AIAA conferences, as well as those by other organzations, are indexed.

Journals - The best index for access to the journals that cover aerospace or include aerospace-related articles.

Reports - Includes international coverage of aerospace related techncal reports.

whyCompendex covers the aerospace field in conferences and journal articles, NTIS indexes technical reports in the subject, however, Aerospace is a focused database dedicated to indexing the subject with over 2,000,000 records. While it is useful to repeat searches in these other databases when an exhaustive search is needed, Aerospace is the primary database in the field.

whereThe CAT -  provides access to entire items. Search by conference title or editor,  book author or title, technical report title or author or journal title.

NTIS - some reports may be in the NTIS database and available on microfiche.

AIAA Online Publications - provides full text of AIAA published papers from 2001-

howFor the items not available full text, check the CAT. The CAT provides access to the entire item.  Search by conference title or editor, book title or author, technical report name or author or journal title.

Conferences, especially AIAA conferences, may  be difficult to find.  Check the Conference Helpsheet for additional hints.  REMEMBER- print AIAA conference papers are bound by conference title and then organized by AIAA paper number. Be sure to note this number.

Reports indexed in Aerospace may be in the technical reports microfiche collection in the Engineering Library.  If the title of the  report  does not appear in a CAT search, check the NTIS Database for an ID number.  If the Engineering Library does not have one of these reports, it can be ordered.  See Document Delivery for more information.
