AIAA
American
Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, AIAA, is an international
society dedicated to the sciences and technologies related to both aeronautics
and astronautics. With over 30,000 members worldwide, it is a major
producer of information on these topics.
Conferences - AIAA sponsors or co-sponsors a large number of conferences each year. Each year there are approximately 3,500 papers published. Until 2001 the conference papers were generally published individually, collected in the Engineering Library and then bound by conference title. When bound they are shelved with the circulating books and may be borrowed. AIAA Online provides full text, online access to articles and papers from 2001. Journals - AIAA publishes numerous journals. Aerospace America (TL501.A688A2501) is a monthly magazine which keeps the reader up on the field. More technical titles include: Journal of Thermophysics and Heat Transfer (TL900.J68) and Journal of Propulsion and Power (TL780.J67). AIAA Online provides full text, online access to articles and papers from 2001. Standards - AIAA produces a number of standards. Most of them are also ANSI standards, with a ANSI/AIAA number.
Compendex - Coverage includes journal articles and conference papers. Search by author, title words of the journal article or conference paper, keywords, or subject terms. When searching for AIAA conference papers in Compendex be sure to note all the conference title information, as well as the paper number. Aerospace
Database - Covering all areas of the aerospace field, Aerospace
Database is on the LIAS Fast Track. It includes references to books,
journal articles, conference papers, and technical reports, with
over 2,000,000 records..
Remember that for print access you will still need the paper number to find the paper you want within the volume(s) of the appropriate conference. For example: 39th AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics and Materials Conference has 4 parts, the AIAA paper number will lead you right to correct part. If the University Libraries does not own the item you need in print or online, use either Interlibrary Loan or Document Delivery.
