ASCE
whoThe American Society of Civil Engineers, ASCE, was founded in 1852.  It has over 139,000 members worldwide. Their mission is to improve the practice of all aspects of civil engineering and advance professional knowledge.  It is also active in cooperative agreements with civil engineering groups from around the world. It is considered the world's biggest publisher in civil engineering.

whatBooks - ASCE publishes a number of books each year on a wide range of engineering topics.  These include historical works, texts, and technical manuals.

Conferences - ASCE sponsors and co-sponsors a number of conferences each year.  The papers from these conferences are published in various conference proceedings. See also the ASCE Research Library.

Journals - Civil Engineering (TA1.C452, current issues behind the desk) is the monthly magazine of the society.  There are over 20 other titles from ASCE, including Journal of Engineering Mechanics (TA1.A523301). Journals are also available online on the E-Resources List under ASCE Research Library.

Standards - ASCE publishes numerous standards and codes, many of which have been accepted by other standards organizations.  These include standards on steel, masonry, structures, etc.
