Compendex
Compendex
(COMPuterized ENgineering inDEX) is the electronic version of Engineering
Index, the foremost general engineering index. Compendex provides bibliographic
information and abstracts (for most records) for journal articles and conference
papers from 1884. It is international in scope and includes over 5000 journal titles
and conference proceedings.
Conferences
- Most of the major conferences are covered by Compendex. For a
listing of those covered use the 'Serial Title' browse located on the
search page.
Journal Articles - A list of the titles is located at in
the same manner as the conferences.
Although there are discipline
specific databases in engineering (Aerospace, Environmental Engineering, Materials Science, TRIS, etc.), Compendex is the most
complete, largest database available for engineering in general. When searched
in conjunction with NTIS, it provides a good literature review. However,
if there is a discipline specific index in print or electronic database,
be sure to include it for a thorough search.
Compendex
is located on the LIAS E-Resources List. Many of the papers and articles indexed in Compendex can be found online through the University Libraries. If available, click the yellow full text button on a record of interest to get the text. If there is no yellow button, try the Get It! button and follow the directions. If the Libraries does not have a copy, you can always request the article or paper through ILLiad, our interlibrary loan service.
Compendex may
be searched by conference paper or journal author, title of paper or article,
keywords, subjects, author affiliation, journal title or any combination
of these facts. For more information, see the Compendex Help
sheet.
You may set up a profile, an alerting service, or RSS feeds through Compendex.
If the University Libraries does not own the item you need, use
either Interlibrary Loan or Document Delivery. For more information see "Help" tab on Compendex. |
