Gateway Library

Gateway Library

The Gateway Library, located on the first floor of central Pattee, is a great place to be if you need help getting started in the Pattee and Paterno Libraries. The Gateway staff is trained to help patrons to use the libraries' online resources and find their way throughout the libraries. The library staff answers over 35,000 reference questions a year. There are 30 LIAS (Library Information Access System) terminals in the Gateway Library, offering access to our online catalog (The CAT). The CAT contains nearly five million records for volumes physically located in our Libraries at 26 Penn State campuses, and an additional 57,000 serial titles. LIAS work stations also offer access to over 15,000 additional global, multidisciplinary journals and databases. These databases provide online access to periodical journals, newspapers, dissertations, manuscripts, and photographs. A portion of the terminals in the Gateway Library are enhanced with the Microsoft Office suite, to enable Penn State faculty, staff, and students the option of working on assignments with Library staff help nearby.
