Fred Lewis Pattee, for whom Pattee Library is named, was born March
22nd, 1863. He was a teacher, lecturer, novelist, and essayist.
His career at Pennsylvania State College (as the University was
called at that time) began in 1894, when he was recruited by then-president
of the college, George Atherton. Pattee's special interest was the
field of American literature. He also authored Penn
State's Original Alma Mater. |
