LatinNews.com This website--which provides its content in both English and Spanish--is a useful resource for current news and information on economic and political news in Latin America. LADB, which is hosted by the University of New Mexico, provides news focused on Latin America as well as resources for high school teachers on incorporating Latin American themes into their curricula. Mansfield University's International and Area Studies Resources - links to various country profiles, economic studies, human rights and labor reports, statistics, political information and more. Widmer, Covington and Stewart-Mailhiot's syllabus for Latin American Economic Development at Vanderbilt University, which provides a great bibliography of resources. Many of the resources on the Web they mention can also be found on this page. Latin American and Iberian Documentary Film List provided by the University of California at Santa Barbara. Latin American and Caribbean Food Security Movement Homepage is a multilingual portal with many helpful links. The Political Database of the Americas provides a great deal of data on political procedure and policies in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Food and Agricultural Association of the United Nations (FAO) hosts the World Food Summit to address issues of hunger and poverty around the world, including in Latin America and the Caribbean. They have several websites related to this initiative:
Economic Survey of Latin America and the Caribbean (In Spanish) Gives economic trends for the LAC area as well as for individual countries. EIU Country Profiles Gives overviews from The Economist Intelligence Unit of the economic situation in 200 countries, including those in the LAC region. (Updated Annually) EIU Country Reports: Americas The Economist's Intelligence Unit's region-specific country reports which deal with political climate and economic forecasts. (Updated Monthly) World Bank Country Studies Statistics provided by the World Bank. LABORSTA: The Labour Statistics Database Provides labor statistics from countries around the world on topics ranging from employment rates, labor cost, and many more!!
