Laptop use in the library
Ports for students to connect their laptops to the Internet are located near the carrels by the window (there are PORT stickers marking the carrels)
To connect the student needs to have a cable* and Virtual Private Network software* loaded on their laptop.
*Students may borrow a cable - they are located on the reserve shelf, please check them out to the student for 2 hours.
**Virtual Private Network (VPN); you may either send the student over to the helpdesk at the Computer Center - the helpdesk staff will download VPN from the Network or the student may download VPN from the VPN CD located on the Reserve Shelf.
VPN (Virtual Private Network) download
From the Start button > Run VPN Client from cd drive. Follow instructions on screen (Clicking Next, Next, Next) At the end of download you will be instructed to reboot.
After Reboot
Start > programs > Cisco Network
Double click on the lock icon. Drop down box with campus choices will appear. Choose Great Valley (gv.psu.edu)
Enter Access ID and Password
Once the system authenticates you, you can connect to the Internet.
