Truncation
[wildcard searching]
Truncate your search by using the truncation symbol appropriate for the database you're in. For example, truncating the term "ethic," will retrieve "ethic," "ethics," and "ethical."

How can I find subject headings for a particular database?

What if I need more search terms?
Use synonyms...
For example, "ethical consumerism" as well as "consumer ethics"
Or use narrower or more specific terms...
For example, "socially responsible companies" or "sweatshops" instead of "business ethics"
