About printing, emailing, and downloading 
These functions allow you to print or email the results of your search. You may also save your search to a local drive.

When you want to...   In The Cat   In other LIAS databases
mark records for future use   At the left of each retrieved record on the Brief Titles List screen or the Single Item Display is a check box. Click on the check box to mark the record for printing, downloading to a disk, or emailing.

Note: Output of your results is limited to 200 records.

Click on the Print/Email button at the top of the screen to print, email, or save the records you have marked. The numbers of the records you marked will appear in the top box. If no records are marked, indicate in this box the single record number(s) or range of records you wish to print, download, or email (e.g., "1-19").

 

 

Most other databases also have a checkbox to mark the records of interest to you. If you are having trouble, check the online HELP files for specific information.

download to disc   After marking your records, click on the Print/Email button at the top of the screen and then click on the Save button. The records you have chosen will be displayed in a plain text mode.

Select FILE from your browser's window and then choose SAVE AS.

Type the drive letter followed by a colon then type the name of the file.

Note: On Library computers you may only save to the [A] drive; this requires you to insert a formatted disk into the floppy drive.

Select OK to start downloading text.

Important: Remember to give each file a new name as this procedure will overwrite rather than append the text.

 

Most databases have a save/download button on the search results or marked list page. If you are having trouble, check the online HELP files for specific information.

OR

Display the results you want. Select FILE from your browser's window and then choose Save As... and save as a .txt file.

Note: on Library computers you may only save to the [A] drive; this requires you to insert a formatted disk into the floppy drive.

email   After marking your records, click on the Print/Email button.

Type in the complete email address in the "Email to:" box. Be sure to check your email address for correct spelling. Use your full address, including domain.

ccardinal@psu.edu
ccardinal@aol.com

Click on the EMAIL button.

OR

Display the results you want. Select FILE from your browser's window and then choose Send..Page

print   After marking your records, click on the Print/Email button at the top of the screen and then click on the Print button.

The records you have chosen will be displayed in a plain text mode.

Select FILE from your browser's window and then choose Print...

Note: All printers on Libraries' computers are networked, and accept id+/Lion Cash cards; there are no free printers in the Libraries. Instructions are located at each workstation.
