A Short Term Access Account (STAA) allows you to login/authenticate to Penn State services for a limited  time.  The University Libraries will issue an STAA for up to three days.  At University Park, both Gateway Library and Lending Services on the first floor of Pattee Library issue the STAA.  For other locations, contact  the campus library.

A Picture ID is required (driver's license, state or national identity card, or passport). K-12 students must have a parent or guardian sign the application for them. Their school IDs are not acceptable.

Remote Access to Databases

Some databases such as The CAT, PubMed, etc. are available to all users from a remote computer (not physically located in a PSU library). However, most University Libraries’ databases are licensed for use by Penn State students, faculty, and staff only. Which databases may be available to you depends on how you are connecting to the University Libraries Web site.

Penn State Alumni Library

Alumni Association Members also have access to the online Alumni Library.; There you may find a wide array of information, including topical centers with resources available to members only such as Pro-Quest databases and hundreds of online, full-text journals from Project Muse. In addition, members may access the Penn State Lore section featuring vignettes of Penn State history and artifacts, as well as many other online sources and collections.
