Scholarly Communication: Resources for Graduate Students

Scholarly Communication and Libraries

Trends in scholarly communication that have had particular impact on libraries include: rising journal costs, a sharp rise in new specialized and cross-disciplinary academic journals, an increasing demand from users for electronic access to information, and constraints on the publishing of scholarly monographs by university presses. Recognizing that these issues are not library issues alone, university presidents, provosts, faculty, librarians, counsels, and representatives of scholarly societies and university presses have made recommendations for the future of scholarly communication.

The sites below include reports from these groups and other related sites.
