Instructional Rooms

All instruction rooms (unless otherwise noted) have an instructor podium with a computer, remote mouse and keyboard, as well as a CD, DVD, and VCR player. Rooms also have a data projector and stereo speakers.

The rooms are locked (except as noted). After class, please remember to place projector remote, mouse, and keyboard inside the secure podium. Library staff's office key opens the door to the room.

Except as noted, rooms are scheduled through Library Learning Services. Invite as a location in Meeting Maker.

Teaching tip: try passing the wireless keyboard to a student and have her type into a database, or have a student come to the podium to type as you act as a "guide on the side"

Additional Guidelines for Room 514

514 Paterno is primarily an instruction space for Libraries faculty-guided instruction and should be scheduled on MeetingMaker according to the guidelines for instruction rooms.

In addition, gift processing for EBSL is an important secondary function. The unprocessed, unprotected materials on shelves will have to be monitored by all faculty and staff using the room. (PLEASE don't allow anything to leave the room. Note: the EBSL discourages any browsing whatsoever, since the materials are often sorted by donors and for other purposes, and eventually, most of the materials will be available for borrowing.)

Library Learning Services and EBSL will both continue to accept meeting proposals for the room using the following prioritized list:

  • Instruction (Libraries faculty-guided instruction only)
  • Training/Staff Meetings of Library Learning Services and EBSL/PACFTB
  • Gift & Collections Processing for EBSL
  • Meetings/Events proposed by other University Libraries' departments, faculty, and staff.

Note: As of July 2007, students will no longer be able to use the room for group meetings.
