Books
With all of the online resources available, we often forget to consider using books when doing research. Books have been written on just about every topic and commonly provide an overview of an issue as well as recent research and developments. You can usually find something useful that will save you time and lead to better information. The Penn State library system is one of the largest in the country and acquires thousands of new titles each year. You may borrow books from any Penn State location and pick them up at here at Mont Alto. To search the library collection of nearly 5 million items, including almost 40,000 books here at Mont Alto, use the online library catalog THE CAT.
If you locate a book that is available at another campus,
use the "I want It" button to request delivery to Mont Alto. When
the book arrives (in 2-3 days) you will receive a notice by email
asking you to check out the item at the library.
Books are checked out for 4 weeks at a time and can be renewed twice. However, if another user is waiting to use a book you will be notified by email and required to return it early. To view your checked out books, due dates, hold requests, or to renew books online, see My Library Account. Information on late fees and library fines can be found by reviewing the Lending Code.
