Soil Survey Collection  

Soil surveys furnish soil maps and interpretations needed in giving technical assistance to farmers and ranchers; and in guiding other decisions about soil selection, use, and management.

 

FIND ARTICLES

Scientific journals, newspapers, and magazine articles are best located by searching research databases. 

Databases to Use:

ProQuest Direct
Search the contents of 5,000+ magazines, journals, and newspapers.

Agricola
Search journal articles, book chapters, USDA, and State Extension service publications covering agriculture and related subjects.  Agricola includes animal and plant science, agronomy, horticulture, and rural sociology.  1970 – present.

CAB Abstracts
Research and development literature in the fields of agriculture, forestry, and the management and conservation of natural resources.  1973- present.

Biological and Agricultural Index
Search articles from more than 240 periodicals covering a wide range of scientific journals, from popular to professional that pertain to biology and agriculture. 
1985-present.

Article Search Tips:
Finding the best articles on your topic requires a number of steps.

  1. Select an appropriate database.
  2. Enter and combine terms appropriate to your topic
  3. Look at the best references you retrieve and determine the subject terms used for those articles. Then revise your search using these new terms.
