7. 5, rue Las Cases

In this hall of the Musée Sociale VN gave, with great success, public readings in mid-November of 1932 (see Boyd, vol. 1, pp. 394-96), on February 8, 1936, and on January 24, 1937. It was nearly impossible to explain to the slightly perturbed personnel of the Museum why I wanted to photograph an empty auditorium, the key to which they had misplaced. The blank screen, the ugly chairs, and the floor line rising half-way up made the setting very strange and cold.
