University Libraries Plan to Host More than 5,000 Students—During a very lively open house—ARGGGGH Matey—pirates will be plentiful.

University Park, PA—Penn State University Libraries will host a fun, interactive Open House with a pirate's theme on September 18 and 19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., in Pattee, Paterno, and all branch libraries at University Park.

Treasures will abound, during the two days, which will feature activities and great giveaways and prizes for students, including iTunes gift cards, lunch with President Graham Spanier or with Libraries' Dean Nancy L. Eaton, a Penn State football autographed by Joe Paterno, a free bike, $100 travel voucher, and more.

One of the largest and most successful library orientation programs of its kind nationwide, the Penn State Libraries’ Open House has been running since 2001 and attracts more than 5,000 students each fall. Student feedback from the event is highly positive, with more than 90 percent , indicating that they would recommend the Open House as a useful activity for other students to attend.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information and photographs of last year's Open House, see http://www.libraries.psu.edu/openhouse/
