Waring's Pennsylvanians to Reunite and Perform on Campus

University Park, PA—From Friday, June 22, through Sunday, June 24, former members of Fred Waring's Pennsylvanians will converge on University Park for their annual reunion. The reunions became a tradition after the former Pennsylvanians performed in Eisenhower Auditorium in the summer of 2000 for Fred Waring's 100th birthday anniversary. That reunion was such a success, the former members of the group decided to continue meeting once a year, often in different parts of the country.

Members decided to reunite this year at Penn State. Since all the Waring memorabilia is located in the Fred Waring's America collection in Pattee Library, they will be able to spend the day browsing the archives and reflect on their time spent in the band.

On Saturday, June 23rd at 8:30 pm in the Esber Recital Hall, the former Pennsylvanians will sing many of their favorite arrangements from the Fred Waring shows. The performance is open to the public and will give people a chance to once again enjoy the lush Waring Sound.

For further information contact Fred Waring's America Coordinator, Eileen Akin, at 814-863-2911, or e-mail: fredwaring@psulias.psu.edu.
