Alumni Library features Waring's America
University Park, PA The latest "edition" of Penn State's Alumni Library at http://alumni.libraries.psu.edu, features the Fred Waring Collection, formally known as Fred Waring's America: A Collection of Memories, part of Penn State University Archives, in The Eberly Family Special Collections Library. Visitor to the site will be able to hear Waring's music, watch film clips of performances, and see some of his cartoons and other collections. Waring is credited with bringing choral music into the popular realm as well as with helping to make the popular song a classic American art form.
The site also features The Paterno Retrospective Bookmark Series and includes how to obtain a full, uncut collector's sheet of the series that can be framed as a memorable holiday gift.
This and more can be found at Penn State's Alumni Library, a joint project of the University Libraries and the Penn State Alumni Association.
