Milepost Dedication Scheduled in Libraries

University Park, PA—From incorporation in 1892 until its insolvency during the mid-1970s, the Bellefonte Central Railroad played a pivotal role in the economic and social-cultural development of the Centre County region and rise of Penn State as a great public university. On Thursday, July 12, there will be a formal dedication of the restored Bellefonte Central Railroad mile marker number 17, which formerly was located on the present-day Penn State University Blue-White Golf Course.

Professor Emeritus of Supply Chain Management John Spychalski will acknowledge this gift of Emeritus Robert Patterson and Penn State's Senior Vice President for Business and Finance Gary Schultz's role in the restoration of the milepost.

The dedication will take place in the main exhibit area of Pattee Library, first floor, after the presentation at 3:30 p.m., of the book Rails to Penn State: The Bellefonte Railroad in Historical Perspective, by Michael Bezilla and Jack Rudnicki. The presentation is in Foster Auditorium, 101 Pattee Library.
