Get library research help fast

University Park, PA—Need to find sources for a research paper or explore a topic for a presentation? The new "Research Jump Start" page on the Penn State Libraries' Web site has many features that make starting research easier (available from: http://www.libraries.psu.edu/instruction/jumpstart.htm).

This new site, designed with the novice library user in mind, offers instant help via instant messaging and easy access to the most popular research sources:  the CAT (catalog), Proquest databases, and research guides created by librarians. For added convenience, each component on the page is available as a widget that allows users to take their favorite pieces of the page and place them on other websites such as iGoogle, Facebook, Netvibes, and blogs.

Many library users aren’t sure where to begin their research and having these popular tools pulled together in one location makes the process both easier and faster. To learn more about how these technologies can help with research check out the Libraries’ free e-research classes available at: http://its.psu.edu/training/
