Night-Bus Service Extended Beyond Midnight

University Park, PA -- To accommodate end of the semester study needs, operating hours throughout Pattee and Paterno Libraries will be extended until 2:00 a.m., beginning Sunday, April 28, through Thursday, May 2.

In an unprecedented gesture, the University Libraries have purchased extended late-night bus service from CATA to help students and others get back to their apartments, residence halls, or homes, after these late-night study hours. The additional bus service will run from approximately 12:20 to 2:20 a.m. for the Campus Loop and 12:24 to 2:24 a.m. for the Town Loop. (Times are for the Pattee Library stop on Curtin Road.) One additional bus will remain in service on each route and will run approximately, every 20 minutes. The service remains free for riders.

Concerned about the safety of both students and Libraries employees working the late-night shifts during study days and finals, Sally Kalin, associate dean for University Park Libraries said, "It will be money from my operating budget well spent, if it contributes to the safety and well-being of our patrons and encourages them to utilize our resources and services to boost their academic achievement." She added, "If it is successful, perhaps other University units will share the cost in the future."
