Pennsylvania Center for the Book Opens

University Park, PA -- The Pennsylvania Center for the Book, sponsored by Penn State's University Libraries and an affiliate of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, announces public service hours in 201 B Pattee Library, entered via the Paterno Family Humanities Reading Room. Hours for spring semester are Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The facility provides a place to learn more about the center and to access a specialized collection of materials focusing on the book and the Commonwealth.

One of more than thirty-five similar organizations nationwide, the Pennsylvania Center for the Book's mission is to study, honor, celebrate, and promote books, reading, libraries, and literacy to the citizens and residents of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Its largest current undertaking is the development of a Web site (www.pabook.libraries.psu.edu) to support its mission, with sections on Family Literacy Activities, Book News, History of the Book, and Pennsylvania Book World.
