| Libraries Computer Science Collection Relocated
University Park, PA -- Beginning July 21 through August 1, the Mathematics Library's computer science collection, call numbers QA76, will be relocated to the 4th floor of the Paterno Library. Current journal issues, reference books, and abstracts/indexes will also be move to the 4th floor of Paterno Library and will be shelved primarily with the Life Sciences Library collections. The new shelving locations will be listed in The CAT, the online catalog, as they occur.
The Mathematics Library can still be designated as a pick-up location for
holds, annex, or interlibrary loan requests, and Robert Seeds, head librarian,
will continue as the library liaison and primary selector for computer science
publications. He will also be available for assistance. Life Sciences Library
staff, 4th floor Paterno Library and 814-865-7056, and Michael Pelikan, technology
initiatives librarian, 102 Paterno Library and 814-865-5660, will be available
for assistance in Paterno Library.
CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) course reserves will be handled by
Reserves Services, 114 Pattee Library, west, beginning fall semester. Reserve
requests should be submitted via http://reserve.libraries.psu.edu/,
selecting either the regular or electronic reserve request form. Questions

These changes are occurring to provide improved service and access and to better manage the limited shelving space in McAllister Building. It will also result in the consolidation of computer science materials from three library locations to the Paterno and Engineering libraries. Many other information science and technology collections, including business, communications, and consumer/user treatments, are already located in Paterno Library.
As an additional service, electronic access to scholarly journals continues
to expand, including the full ACM Digital Library at http://portal.acm.org/portal.cfm,
and the recently added Safari (computer handbooks) Tech Books online at http://proquest.safaribooksonline.com/.
