Libraries Computer Science Collection Relocated

University Park, PA -- The computer science collection that was formerly part of the Mathematics' Library, including call numbers QA76, current journal issues, reference books, and abstracts/indexes, has been relocated to the Life Sciences Library, 4th floor of the Paterno Library. All new shelving locations are listed in The CAT, the Libraries' online catalog.

The Mathematics Library can still be designated as a pick-up location for holds, annex, or inter-library loan requests for computer science materials, and Robert Seeds, head librarian, will continue as the library liaison and primary selector for computer science publications. Life Sciences Library staff, 4th floor Paterno Library and 814-865-7056, and Michael Pelikan, technology initiatives librarian, 102 Paterno Library and 814-865-5660, will be available for assistance in Paterno Library.

CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) course reserves will be handled by Reserves Services, 114 Pattee Library, west. Reserve requests should be submitted via http://reserve.libraries.psu.edu/, selecting either the regular or electronic reserve request form. Questions and concerns, should be directed to Chris Holobar, reserves services supervisor, at jch4@psulias.psu.edu or phone 814-865-1886.

These changes are occurring to provide improved service and access for the student, faculty, and researchers, by consolidating computer science materials from three library locations to the Paterno and Engineering libraries and many other information science and technology collections, including business, communications, and consumer/user treatments, are already located in Paterno Library.

As an additional service, electronic access to scholarly journals continues to expand, including the full ACM Digital Library at http://portal.acm.org/portal.cfm, and the recently added Safari (computer handbooks) Tech Books online at http://proquest.safaribooksonline.com/.

Questions should be directed to Robert Seeds at rss5@psu.edu or 814-865-3714.
