Chance to win $150 in international library experience contest
University Park, PA International students stand a chance to win $150 in an essay contest about libraries overseas. Students are asked to write an original essay of about 1500 words, or create a podcast, video, vodcast or other multimedia format of up to 15 minutes, on their library experiences abroad.
"The contest is a way to help international students feel more connected to the Penn State University Libraries, and will also help us learn more about them," says Reference Librarian Dawn Amsberry.
Entries must be submitted by e-mail as an attachment or a link to a URL (YouTube, etc.) to lsnavely@psu.edu or dua4@psu.edu. Write "International Library Experience Contest" in the subject line of the e-mail. Be sure to include your name and which country you are from, name of the library you're writing about, the type of library and where it is located. In addition, study abroad students can enter under a separate category and stand a chance to win $100. The deadline for the contest is March 21. For full details on how to enter, as well as a list of suggested topics to write about, see: http://www.libraries.psu.edu/LLS/international_students/EssayContest.pdf
The contest is organized by the Department of Library Learning Services and is open to students at all Penn State locations. "We hope that the contest will bring more international students into the Libraries and get them excited about our services and collections," says Amsberry. To contact Amsberry, call 814-865-5093, or e-mail dua4@psu.edu.
