U.S. Census Collections and Resources

 

Manuscript Census Records

Provides a wealth of data about specific people: where and how they lived. Frequently used for tracking specific people or for gleaning information about the social and economic structure of American life. Records are hand written by the original census enumerators for each person.

Statistical Census Records and Volumes, 1790-2000

Located in the Social Sciences Library, the statistical census includes aggregated data for cities, towns, etc. No individual or specific name data is included in these volumes. Statistical Census data is a valuable resource for tracking trends and patterns of American life and communities but not for tracking specific families or individuals.
