Services and Fees
The News & Microforms Library faculty and staff provide reference assistance for all collections housed in the News & Microforms Library as well as assistance with all of the different types of equipment available to view, print, and scan micro-formats:
Reader/Printers
- for use with:

- allow researchers to make 8.5x11 paper copies. Fees:
- $0.20 with change
- $0.16 with LionCash
Reader/Scanners

- allow researchers with a Penn State Access Account (information for researchers without a Penn State Access Account) to scan microformat materials and save the images in a variety of ways:
- ftp to PASS space via the Penn State Portal
- attachment to email
- floppy disk
- zip disk
- CD-ROM
Information for Researchers who do not have a Penn State Access Account

Researchers who do not have a Penn State Access Account are welcome to visit the News & Microforms Library and use our collections and the microfilm and microfiche readers and reader/printers.
One microfilm reader/printer and one microfiche reader/printer are capable of taking change to make print copies (a change machine is located just outside the News & Microforms Library). Researchers may obtain a LionCash Card to take advantage of cost savings when making numerous prints. A LionCash vending machine is located outside the News & Microforms Library.
Researchers who would like to use any of the scanning equipment available in the News & Microforms Library will need to request a Short Term Access Account at the Reference Desk.
Short Term Access Account (STAA):
- good for three days
- a current, valid photo ID is required
- allows access to library computers
