Acquisitions Approvals currently deals with eight vendors. Books from these sources are processed and placed on our display for a two-week cycle. Approval materials (along with gifts) are arranged on display shelves by subprofile and LC classification. Selectors arrive weekly to review and make selection decisions on this material.
Books for Earth & Mineral Sciences, Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Education, Math and Physical Sciences Libraries are processed immediately upon their receipt and delivered to the libraries for on-site review by the selectors. Books requiring referral to another Technical Services area (CatMarking, Cataloging, Bindery) are placed on the appropriate approval display shelves and selectors must review those books here.
