Guidelines

In order to use the facilities in the office of Library Services for Persons with Disabilities, you must qualify for services under the Office of Disability Services. The following lists these guidelines:

  1. Only persons with a documented disability and who need to use assistive technology can use the room.
  2. Non-disabled patrons may only be in this room if they are assisting a disabled person.
  3. If you are new to the facility, you must arrange for an orientation with the coordinator of disability services. The orientation will explain the available services, provide training on the various assistive software and hardware, and explain accessibility hours and other library policies.
  4. Because the room is staffed only between 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, after hours and on weekends, a key to the room is available, upon request, at the west exit service desk. In order to obtain this key, the patron must sign a form and present a University ID or a government issued picture ID (e.g. driver's license). Also, after hours and on weekends, patrons must also sign a form provided in the disability service room.

Library Services for Persons with disabilities offers a guideline to help in assisting people with disabilities. Consider this document to contain tips that help people with disabilities and the people that are helping them.
