Sede di Roma: Requesting Library Books

Yes! If you are a Penn State student you may borrow books from the PSU Libraries while you are in the Sede di Roma studio. The procedure is a bit different than previous borrowing and contains some uncertainties, so please read all of the steps carefully before clicking the I Want It button.

While you are in Rome, you may charge out books until the end of the semester (rather than the usual 4 weeks). But keep in mind these risks:

  • If shipping is required to get the book back by its due date, you will be personally responsible for the costs and for the arrangements. Please do not expect the Sede di Roma staff to help with this.

  • A book might be recalled from you by another Penn Stater stateside. As with all recalls, your loan period will be shortened and the rate for late fines will increase, but you will still be responsible for shipping the book so that it is received before the new due date. This could be costly and might require that you act quickly. Because of potential recalls we recommend that obviously popular books (let’s use Dan Willis’s Emerald City as an example) be purchased from bookstores or used in libraries in Rome.

  • As with any loan from the Libraries, you will be solely responsible for each book from the time it is charged out to you (when we ship it) until the time it is charged back into the library.
