Berks Reserves Frequently Asked Questions

"Why isn't my course listed?"

First, try searching for your reserves by instructor name (Last, or Last, First). If that doesn't work (or you don't know how to spell your instructor's name), make sure that you're keying in your course number correctly - including the spacing and zeros.

Check Finding Reserves in the Cat for more information.

"Where can I find reserve materials?"

At Berks, all reserve materials are located at the circulation/service desk or online.

"What does 'Closed Reserve' mean?"

At University Park, items on Closed Reserve are kept behind the reserves service desk.
At Berks, all reserve items are at the kept at the circulation/service desk.
Reserve items are charged to your account, even if you are only going to photocopy them, so you must be registered with the library. You need to be registered with the library to log into the CAT and access online reserves, as well.

"When are reserve books due ?"

Most reserve materials may be charged-out for two hours only, and may not be taken from the library. However, reserve due dates are set by the instructor, and may range from ½ hour to a semester loan. When you check out a reserve item, you will receive a date due slip that displays the date and time the item must be returned.

"Where can I return my reserve books?"

Books on reserve should always be returned to the same desk from which they were borrowed. Reserve books returned to other locations may be subject to overdue fees!

"What are the overdue fees for reserve books?"

Overdue fees for reserve items are assessed at the rate of $1.00/hour for each hour overdue, including overnight. You can be charged up to $100.00 for an overdue reserve item!

"How can I change the printed text size?"

To change the printed text size on electronic reserve pdf files:

Click on File > Print.

In the Print Properties dialogue box:

    To make text larger,
