Mobile Apps to help with Research

Long gone are the days of sitting at a computer to start your research for your classes. Now there are more and more apps available to let you start looking for scholarly information right on your phone or tablet!

Using your mobile device, go to the App Store (Apple products) or Google Play (formerly Android Market) to download these apps.

Dropbox icon

Dropbox allows you to store documents, photos, and other files, and sync documents across all of your computers and mobile devices. Many apps will allow you to upload from and download files. Free for 2GB of storage; additional storage available for monthly fee.

Bluefire icon

Bluefire Reader E-book reader that works with e-books from many sources. Works with Adobe's e-book format and can be used with the e-books in the Penn State Library's catalog (EBL books, etc.)

Databases

EbscoHost icon

EbscoHost  Provides access to some of Penn State's research databases for finding journal articles.   You can choose which database to search, retrieve full text articles and save them to view offline later.

Article Search quickly searches and retrieves scholary articles. Search and find papers published, then send articles via email or share them on Facebook or Twitter.

 

 

PubMed on Tap Lite icon

PubMed on Tap Lite searches PubMed database to find and display reference information. Stores, retrieves and email full text articles in PDF format for ease of researching.

Science Direct lets you access leading full-text scientific database offering journal articles and book chapters from more than 2,500 peer-reviewed journals and more than 11,000 books. You can look up and read a paper, share the articles, or just explore what's out there anytime you get a bright idea.
