The librarians and staff of the Schreyer Business Library are committed to providing effective information resources and services, especially in terms of reference service, library instruction, and collection development.
Borrowing Books
Faculty and students must register with Lending Services before they will be permitted to borrow books. Please consult the Lending Code for further details
Course Reserve Materials
The University Libraries provide both print and electronic access to certain course materials such as class notes, exams, homework assignments, journal articles, books and book excerpts/chapters.
Print materials are held at the Reserve Desk at W113 Pattee Library (not the Schreyer Business Library). These materials are for library use only, or for limited circulation - usually 2 hours.
Some materials can be viewed or printed from electronic reserve, accessible 24 hours a day from your computer desktop.
Faculty needing to place course materials on reserve should contact Reserves.
Database Access
The best access to library databases is through University Libraries' hyper links. These links are scripted through the University Libraries' proxy server to facilitate access for Penn State students, faculty and staff.

Users may access library databases in several ways -
On-campus access: through University Internet connections (Access Account or departmental access)
Off-campus dial-up: through University dial-up Internet connections (Access Account or departmental access)
Off-campus, 3rd party Internet service: Most library databases allow access through the University Libraries proxy server if the user provides a valid Access Account UserID and Password.
Interlibrary Loans
Current Penn State faculty and students may use materials borrowed from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan. Please check the University Libraries' current holdings in the CAT and full-text electronic resources (see the full-text database listing on the E-Resource List (A-Z) ) before requesting materials.
Please note that the Interlibrary Loan page provides links to the Request It & Go and Electronic Desktop Delivery services.
Library Instruction
The business librarians provide basic library orientation, advanced instruction, and hands-on demonstrations in information-seeking skills and use of print and electronic library resources.
Depending on instructional needs, library presentations may be delivered in the class's usual meeting location or in library facilities, which include several demonstration/lecture rooms and a technology classroom with 34 workstations for hands-on seminars. Please contact a business librarian at least two weeks in advance to make arrangements.
The business librarians welcome the opportunity to work with faculty to develop library-based assignments or review existing assignments in light of changes that have occurred in location and availability of resources.
Purchase Requests
We welcome your suggestions for new books, videos and other materials that the University Libraries might purchase. You may contact the business librarians to discuss your needs and interests or use our online form.
