Travel Perferences and Frequent Guest Memberships
Like airlines, hotels offer frequent quest memberships to create customer loyalty. Each time a guest stays in the hotel chain, they earn points which can be used for merchandise or free hotels stays.
Penn State permits emplyees to retain these points earned for either business or leisure travel. However, just like choosing an airline, a traveler's choice of hotels should not be influenced by their memberships, especially if it increases the cost of business travel to the University, wither in the hotel expense, or the ground transportation to get to and from the hotel to the business site.
