Truck Count
Variable. Of more importance is oldest date of material waiting to be cataloged. Date material was received in Cataloging must also be taken into consideration.

Turnaround Times
Exceeding a timeframe specified in the table below will cause an Action Plan to be put into practice by team members to reduce the volume of material, beginning with that dated the oldest, within the problem category.

Workflow Turnaround Notes
Hand Carry Rush 4 work hours
  • Finished by Monographs Cataloging within 4 hours, and then put on Marking’s truck -- Or-- hand-carried to Original Cataloger
  • Selectors’ personal requests
  • Reserves for current or next academic year
  • Special requests from subject libraries
Rush 3 days
  • Rush items do not go on trucks; they should be put on the RUSH shelf.
  • Pink flier – [“U.P. Receipt”, “CCL Receipt”]; Have also seen regular Flier with RUSH written in red
  • Patron requests –Green flier --come from “I want it” - Report sent to Cat-Marking; Can also come through mail or be placed in book by Teams; Has stamped date on it, may or may not have “Last date useful to me” date filled in
  • UFO filled green flier (patron’s request through selector’s order)
  • ALL Reference: UP and CCL
  • Special requests from subject libraries

Trainee input will be used to assess the quality of training by the trainers.

Priorities and Timeframes
The times listed below indicate the amount of time that the original catalogers require to complete the work. These must be integrated into the Monographs Team turn-around times either as additional time or as part of the stated time for each category.

These priorities and timeframes will be used as a self-management tool as well as a resource allocation tool.

Original Cataloging - Quality
Original catalogers are expected to create records that meet all applicable national standards. Samples will be regularly reviewed to ensure that our records meet the standards required by OCLC.

Quality reviews will be conducted in the form of a group review at least annually.

NACO
Original catalogers who have been trained in NACO will contribute monthly in order to maintain and build skills and knowledge.
