Sound Recordings

 

Cassettes

  1. Check if the case has any damage, and replace the case if necessary.
  2. Change the Home location in WorkFlows to the appropriate location for the item’s respective library.
  3. Print a call number label for the cassette (on the #55398023)
  4. Apply the label to the lower left front corner of the case.
  5. Apply the barcode to the back side of the cassette case.
  6. Apply a “Check for Parts” label below the barcode if there is more than one cassette in the container (or any other extra parts).
  7. Place a clear piece of Mylar over the barcode and the “Check for Parts” label.
  8. Apply a clear plastic pocket on the backside of the case.

    DO NOT apply a target to any of these items.

  9. Place the cassettes on the appropriate library shelf when completed.
 

CDs

  1. Check the jewel case for any damage (example: broken hinges, and cracks on the case). Replace all or part of the case if necessary.
  2. Change the Home location in WorkFlows to the item’s respective library location.
  3. Print the call number label (on the #55398023 template).
  4. Apply the call number label approximately 1 inch from the lower left front of the case.
  5. Apply a clear ownership label to the upper right front corner of the case.
    For CCL locations, place the appropriate library label on the middle lower front of the cover.
  6. Apply the barcode to the upper right corner on the back of the case.
  7. Apply a circular PSU LIBRARIES label to the hub of the CD.

    DO NOT target CDs
  8. Print a call number label for the booklet, if the booklet isn’t going for binding.

For boxed sets:

  1. Apply the barcode to the outer box of the set; when possible, place a clear ownership label on each individual item, and print a label for each individual item.
  2. Apply a “Check for Parts” label near the barcode of the item. State the number of parts and what they are, if possible.
  3. Apply a clear plastic pocket to the back side of the case.
  4. Place the CDs on the appropriate library shelf when completed.

DVDs

NOTE: All labels are applied on the paper under the plastic, except the pocket.

  1. Check the container for any damages, and replace the case if necessary.
  2. Apply a clear UP ownership label in the upper right corner of the case (UP only)
    Apply a CCL Ownership label to the bottom right corner of the case (CCL only).
  3. Apply the barcode on the upper right back side of the case.
  4. Place a security strip (target) or security Checkpoint on the inside of the paper.
    • Security Strips (targets) are placed on the inside spine of the DVD cover
    • Security Checkpoints are placed on the center of the inside back cover.
  5. Apply a “Check for Parts” label underneath the barcode if there are any booklets and/or if there are multiple discs.
  6. Change the Home location in Workflows to the item’s respective library.
  7. Apply a circular PSU LIBRARIES sticker to the hub of the DVD (UP only).
  8. Apply a clear plastic pocket on the back of the case (on the outside of the plastic).
  9. Place CCL DVDs In Transit.
  10. Place DVDs on their appropriate shelves.
 

Records and Videodiscs

  1. Check the cover for splits. If needed, repair the jacket using ¼ inch Kapco tape.
  2. Change the Home location in WorkFlows to the item’s respective library.
  3. Print the call number label.
  4. Apply the call number label 2 inches from the bottom left front corner of the case.
  5. Apply a clear ownership label to the upper right side of the album cover.
  6. Place the barcode in the lower right corner of the front cover.

    If there isn’t an inner sleeve for the LP, place the LP in one.

  7. Write PSU LIBRARIES on the SIDE 1 hub of disc.
  8. Apply a "Check for Parts" label if there is more than one disc (or any other extra parts) directly above the barcode number.
  9. Apply a clear plastic pocket on the back side of the cover.
  10. Place items on the appropriate library shelf.

Videos (VHS)

NOTE: All labels are placed on the paper under the plastic, except the pocket.

  1. Check the case for any damage and replace the case if necessary.
  2. Place a yellow and black caution strip to the upper spine of the video case.
  3. Write PSU LIBRARIES on the label of the video itself.
  4. Change the Home location in WorkFlows to the item's respective library.
  5. Print the call number label.
    If there is more than one part to the video, print a label for each part (if possible).
  6. Apply the call number label approximately 2 inches from the lower left spine side (on the same side as the caution strip) of the case with Mylar tape.
  7. Apply a clear ownership label to the upper right corner of the box.
  8. Apply the barcode on the back of the case; if necessary, trim the barcode label down to fit an area that doesn’t have any writing.
    For box sets: Apply the barcode to the outer box of the set; when possible, place a clear ownership label on each individual item.
  9. Apply a “PLEASE REWIND AFTER PLAYING” label to the front cover.
    This label is hand typed onto a 1 inch by 3 inch label.

    If there are additional parts with the video, be sure that a call number is with each part.

  10. Apply a "Check for Parts" label on the case, below the barcode number.
    Apply Mylar over the label.
  11. Place a security strip (target) in videos going to UP locations, with the exception of Arts & Humanities items.
  12. Apply a clear plastic pocket on the back of the case.
  13. Place the videos on their respective library shelves when completed, or to the tubs in the Receiving Room.
