**Notes:
Firm orders duping standing orders: If you suspect that a dup firm order item you are cataloging is also received on a standing order (perhaps for the series), return it to an Acquisitions staff member, even if it falls into one of the categories above. Acquisitions will make sure the series is on their standing order list so that they do not firm order items from it in future.
Previous or later editions of the same title are not considered duplicate items and should be cataloged without question if prior instructions regarding editions have not been issued by a Selector. See also Policy on Acceptance of Copy and Classification: Editions.
Duplicate items should be taken to an Acquisitions staff member who will check whether or not they should be added as second copies. Write "Duplicate" on the accompanying paperwork and initial/date it.
**Note: Simultaneous publications ordered/received for the same Library location are considered duplicate items and should be returned to Acquisitions, who will contact the appropriate Selector for a decision on whether or not to keep it or catalog it for a different location. See BPCR 260: Simultaneous publications.
