The Metadata Team, part of the Cataloging and Metadata Services Department, is charged with providing cataloging support for the University Libraries' digital initiatives. We create metadata for the Libraries' digitized collections in CONTENTdm and other platforms, advise on metadata standards and rules for the ScholarSphere digital repository (upcoming release in Fall 2012), and work on repurposing existing catalog records for mass digitization partnerships in which the Libraries participate, such as HathiTrust and the Internet Archive.

The Metadata Team also consists of Jeff Ungar (digital collection metadata support in CONTENTdm) and Jeff Edmunds (technical support for mass digitization projects). Because our digital projects include material covering a variety of formats, additional staff from other teams within Cataloging and Metadata Services are called in on an as-needed basis to fulfill the demands of individual projects.
