Add the form subdivision |vBibliography when missing from copy for any item that is a bibliography. For a work to be considered a bibliography, the bibliographical data it contains must make up a substantial portion of the work. Under names of individuals, it can be used for bibliographies of works by or about those persons.

Add the form subdivision |vCatalogs when missing from copy for the following cases:
If the item you are cataloging consists of merchandise for sale (including auctions), add the form subdivision |vCatalogs to all "type of merchandise or objects" subject headings. If the name of the entity that is selling the merchandise is also listed as a subject heading (600 and 610), add |vCatalogs to those headings. If the name of the entity is missing, add it as a subject heading with |vCatalogs. Be careful to not add |vCatalogs to subject headings that may deal with a large textual component that is unrelated to the merchandise being sold.

Before adding this subdivision, check the authority file to ascertain if a date other than 1800 is applicable.
If missing, add the subdivision |vEarly works to 1800 (or another date if applicable as noted above) under all appropriate headings to designate individual works written or issued before 1800 (or other applicable date).
Assign the subdivision whenever the text in question originated before the date given in the subdivision. This applies not only to early printed works, but also to works originally appearing in manuscript form before the invention of printing.
Assign the subdivision to all editions of a work, including editions issued after 1800 (or other applicable date), as long as the original text has not been altered or reworked. Also assign the subdivision for literal translations of such texts, regardless of the date of translations.
When to omit the subdivision: Do not use the subdivision in situations for which the passage of time is of little consequence, including the following:
If missing, add the subdivision |vExhibitions under any type of subject heading for an exhibition catalog. These will normally contain descriptions of the exhibition and/or lists of the objects exhibited. Headings may include names of persons, classes of persons, ethnic groups, corporate bodies, literary works, place names, disciplines, types of objects, etc.
For exhibition catalogs of books, periodicals, etc., add the subdivisions |vBibliography |vExhibitions under any type of heading. For exhibition catalogs that illustrate the history of the book and book arts, make sure it has the subject heading Books |xHistory |vExhibitions.
If the exhibition is held in an institution, make sure it has a subject heading for the institution with |vExhibitions only if the objects being exhibited are part of the institution's permanent collections.
Do not further subdivide |vExhibitions with |vCatalogs. If an exhibition catalog treats the exhibit as a means of selling items in the exhibit (i.e. includes pricing and availability), treat it as a catalog. See Catalogs.

Do not use |vFacsimiles for a copy of a single work or a single example of the item in question. Use the subdivision only for a work that contains several copied works or examples (except for manuscripts and maps).
For any facsimile collection of manuscripts or maps or any facsimile edition of a single manuscript or map, refer to an original cataloger if the subject headings give no indication that the work is a facsimile.
If missing, add the subdivision |vFolklore to subject headings for works that are collections of folklore texts. Subject headings can be in the form of names of countries, cities, etc., classes of persons, ethnic groups, uniform title of sacred works, and topical headings. For all other works that are folkloric in nature or about folklore that do not bring out that aspect in the subject headings (using Folklore, or related headings like Fairy tales, Tales, Legends, Fables, Folk literature, etc.), refer it to an original cataloger.

This subdivision can be used with topical headings, individual wars, classes of persons, ethnic groups, names of individual persons and families, names of countries, cities, etc., and named entities, such as individual parks, structures, etc.
